Rendered Fits for outerwear and coats

Virtual Try-On for Outerwear & Coat Brands

A coat is worn over other clothes, so the size a shopper takes in a shirt is not always the size they need in a coat. Shoulder fit, sleeve length, body length and room for a jumper underneath are the worries, and a flat product photo shows none of them well. Heavy items are also costly to send back.

Rendered Fits' size recommendation works from your own size chart and fit notes, such as ‘cut to fit over a jumper’ or ‘oversized, consider sizing down’. Shoppers can also see a try-on image for an impression of length and silhouette. That image shows appearance only and does not establish physical fit, so the recommendation depends on the sizing data you provide.

What to measure

Nothing here is a guaranteed result. Measure it on your own store before rolling it out wider.

How it works

Install Rendered Fits from the Shopify App Store, add your size chart and a fit note for each coat (fitted, relaxed, oversized, room for layers), and choose which products show the “Try it on” button from the app dashboard.

Try it on your own products

Start with two or three coats that fit differently, such as a tailored overcoat and an oversized puffer, and compare size-related returns on those against similar coats. Try-on images show style and appearance; they do not establish physical fit. The size recommendation depends on usable sizing data for the product.

Frequently asked questions

Does virtual try-on work for outerwear and coats?

Outerwear is a garment category, so it is in scope. The size recommendation uses your size chart and fit notes, and the try-on image gives an impression of length and silhouette. The image does not establish physical fit.

Can it account for layering under a coat?

Only through the data you give it. A fit note such as 'cut to fit over a jumper' is the place to say how much room a coat allows. The app does not know what a shopper plans to wear underneath.

Do I need to re-shoot my coat photos?

No. Rendered Fits works from your existing product images, so no new shoot, 3D asset or developer is required.
