Shopify App to Reduce Fashion Returns

Rendered Fits is a Shopify app that helps shoppers choose a size. It recommends a size from your own size chart and fit notes, builds outfits with Complete the Look, and offers optional AI try-on previews from your existing product imagery. The aim is fewer fit-related returns, but the size of any change depends on your products, your size charts and your customers, so it has to be measured in your own store. What 829 Shopify fashion stores tell shoppers about size

Before any app, look at the information shoppers already get. In our Shopify Size Chart Report 2026, a scan of 829 Shopify fashion stores and 107,138 sized products on 24 September 2026:

• Only 31.6% of stores had a size chart readable as text on the page. 27.7% had no size chart we could find, and 27.1% published it only as an image.
• Only 20.3% of sized products said how they fit (“true to size”, “relaxed fit”, “size up” and similar).
• 73.8% of stores never gave the model’s size or height.
• 9% of stores sold sizes their own chart did not cover, and 23.3% labelled the same size in different ways across products.

That is the gap a wrong-size return comes from: the shopper had too little to go on. The sample is not random and the scan measured information, not returns; the method and limits are published with the data. Check your own store with the free size chart audit.

How to reduce returns caused by wrong sizing

Wrong size is one of the most common reasons a fashion order comes back. The customer ordered a medium, it arrived, it did not fit, they sent it back. What each return costs you (postage, handling, restocking, the lost sale) varies by brand, so use your own figure rather than an industry average.

The app works on the uncertainty at the size-selection step. A Shopify size recommendation drawn from your size chart and fit notes gives the shopper a reason to pick one size. An optional try-on preview helps them judge style and proportion. A preview is a visual aid only: it does not establish physical fit, so the size recommendation and your size chart do the fitting work.

1. Check your size chart. Cover every size sold, identify body or garment measurements and publish both centimetres and inches. Run the free Shopify size chart audit to find missing or hard-to-read information.
2. Describe the cut. Add product-specific fit notes, stretch and model measurements. A single brand chart cannot explain every garment.
3. Give advice where sizes are chosen. A size recommendation at the product page lets the shopper act on that information before ordering.
4. Measure completed return windows. Compare delivered-order cohorts after the return window closes. A controlled test is stronger than comparing shoppers who chose try-on with those who did not.

• Fit-related returns: returns tagged "too big" or "too small", as a share of orders for the tested products.
• Bracketing: orders that contain the same item in two or more sizes.
• Cost per return: your own handling, postage and restocking cost, not an industry average.
• Sizing enquiries: how many "what size should I get?" emails and chats you receive.

Where to start testing

• Categories with frequent fit questions: denim, tailoring, occasionwear, plus-size and maternity are common places to begin, because shoppers ask about fit most often there.
• Products with good size data: a complete size chart and honest fit notes (runs small, relaxed cut, stretch) matter more than any other input.
• A small test set: start with a handful of products so the before-and-after comparison is easy to read.
