How the calculator works
The model is deliberately transparent and conservative. Monthly returns = orders × return rate. Fit-related returns = returns × the fit share (industry figures put fit and size at roughly two-thirds of fashion returns). Returns avoided = fit-related returns × the reduction rate (industry studies associate virtual try-on with a 25–40% reduction). The monthly saving multiplies avoided returns by your cost to process a return (commonly £17–21 once logistics, handling and write-off are counted). "Retained revenue" assumes avoided returns that would otherwise have been refunded instead stay as sales (at your AOV); treat it as an upper-bound directional figure.
This understates the full picture: it excludes the conversion uplift virtual try-on drives (widely reported at 10%+), the AOV effect, and the sustainability benefit of fewer shipped returns. For where these figures come from, see the Virtual Try-On & Fashion Returns Benchmark 2026.
Why output quality decides the result
These gains only land if the try-on is realistic enough to actually build fit confidence — a synthetic-looking render does the opposite. RenderedFits is built for photorealistic, full-garment output on premium Shopify stores, from your existing product imagery. Why RenderedFits · Best virtual try-on apps 2026.
